Musician Todd Rundgren has recently revealed details of his tour that is to take place in 2023. The tour is going to start in late Spring and will cover mid-size venues across the United States and some parts of Canada till early Fall.
Rundgren is a renowned artist and has been involved in music for more than half a century with his solo career and other bands like Utopia and Nazz. His current tour is designed to allow him to perform what fans consider some of their favorite tracks from his discography.
The Tour Itinerary
In the recently released press statement on his official website, Rundgren announced that the tour is in Atlanta on May 17th. He will perform at six other venues in the southern part of the United States before he rests on Memorial Day weekend.
The tour resumes on May 30th with a show in Houston and runs until the summer. In this leg, Rundgren is expected to perform in large cities such as Dallas, Denver, San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, Boston, and other cities. He has over 20 dates spread out across the Midwest, West Coast, mid-Atlantic, and Northeastern regions booked.
Following a two-week hiatus in early August, Rundgren will perform in Canada. The schedule involves him performing in 6 cities in the Great White North which are Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver among others.
For the last leg in September and October Rundgren comes back to the US where he performs both in concert halls as well as festivals. The last currently planned performance is on October 7 in New York City.
Setlist Expectations
Due to the extensive discography of Rundgren, the audiences will be able to enjoy as many songs from different periods, starting from the middle of the 70s up to now. He also performs songs from his albums, from the Nazz period, and Utopia as well on his tours. He will also be likely to include some of his production work for other legendary artists.
Just for sure, the band could play safe songs such as Hello It’s Me, I Saw the Light, Bang the Drum All Day, and We Gotta Get You a Woman. But in Rundgren’s case, the set usually changes from one night to another, depending on his mood. Fans may be given a chance to hear very limited performances or even have the whole album performed for them. This is because he has been performing 1973’s A Wizard, A True Star in his tours in its entirety in recent years.
Aside from the songs, Rundgren is famous for wearing outrageous outfits and engaging with the audience members. It is even possible that outrageous outrageous gestures, forms, as well as other elements of theatrical performance and absurd humor, would become the undiscovered accessories of a Todd concert.
The Backing Band
Although Rundgren gives his fans opportunities to enjoy his solo performances on mini-tours which are aimed at demonstrating his remarkable talents in composing and performing songs, the major market theater tours involve an ensemble group band. It has not been revealed who specifically will be joining Todd on stage.
But he does have a list of preferred actors and actresses that fans can dream about. Like Kasim Sulton, Prairie Prince, Greg Hawkes, and Jesse Gress, Rundgren has been performing with multi-instrumentalists recently. Michele Rundgren, Grace Slick, and Ashley Jonestown are also the female backing vocalists of his road band.
Of course, there is also the option wherein Rundgren will surprise fans with a new set of performers. He looks at the work from a very unconventional perspective and has a passion for change even after all these years.
Tickets to the confirmed dates are available from February 24tat h 10:00 AM local time. They’ll be released through ToddRundgrenTour. com. Some presales are available for fan club members and for those who have certain credit cards, usually several before the date because the venues are limited, an instant sellout will be witnessed in even bigger cities such as New York and Chicago among others. Yes, it could be that rural areas will have the tickets for a long period, but based on the fan base of Rundgren, they are most probably snapped up quickly. Tickets cost between $50 to $150 according to the city and the type of seat needed.
There are also what is referred to as VIP packages which are sold at an even higher cost. Several incentives such as private meetings with the artist, autographed T-shirts and bumper stickers, and tickets to sit in the front row are made available for purchase along with these packages.
TodRundgren'sen collection has been so much to generations of music fans. His songs are of blue-eyed soul, hard and soft rock guitar, progressive rock, ball, ad, and pop gems among others.
