Roots is a hip-hop band from America that was established in 1987 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. It comprises drums played by Questlove, vocals by Black Thought, Kamal Gray on the keyboards, Mark Kelley on bass, Ian Lovejoy on guitars, and James Poyser on other keyboards. They have recorded 15 albums and continue to tour extensively, being a live hip-hop & jazz band with a lengthy history of performing together. However, the emergence of the coronavirus variants resulted in further postponements and cancellations of events.
Thankfully, live music resumed in full force in 2022 and The Roots were ready to get back to touring. They toured America and performed at various shows; they were the headlining act at Milwaukee’s Summerfest and Chicago’s Riot Fest last year. To counter this lack of time, the band gave a packed, enthusiastic performance that would make up for the lost hour. Viewers were excited for chances to see The Roots perform their other live, unscripted shows once more.
Thus, even though the exact dates of the tours may be still unknown, it is safe to assume that The Roots will be active in the concert scene in 2023 based on the band’s relentless touring schedule.
