  • British band The Fray reveals concert dates for 2023

Popular American rock band The Fray revealed details about a new North American tour to be held in 2023, which will be their first show in a long while. The tour is believed to begin in January and end in May with about 30 shows at mid-size arenas across the US and Canada.

The tour comes on the heels of the band's recently released album "Reverie," their first full-length record since 2016's "Through the Years: The new album is entitled ‘The Best of The Fray. ” This new album has garnered much positive response from music lovers and critics, having been released at the earlier part of the year and entering the top ten on the Billboard charts. Tracks such as “Hold On” and “It’s for You” have gained popularity on adult contemporary radio stations in the last few months.

In a statement, lead vocalist Isaac Slade said, “We are so thankful for the positive reception to the new album, and cannot wait to perform those songs to the audiences and to meet all those people who have appreciated our work for some years now. ”

The Fray came into prominence in 2005 with their debut album “How to Save a Life” which included the two mega-hits of the title track and ‘Over My Head (Cable Car)’. The melodies of the songs characterized by piano and grand chorus became the hallmark of Fray’s pop-rock in the late 2000s. Nevertheless, the band did not release an album for seven more years after Scars and Stories, which came out in 2012 and their sixth album, The New Abnormal, was released in 2019.

While The Fray was on hiatus in 2010, lead vocalist Isaac Slade released a well-received solo album, and guitarist Joe King focused on producing records. Now, with new inspiration and passion for the creative tastes of the music and their chemistry, the band members seem to look forward to coming together for the full shot of a tour production.

Although The Fray has not ceased touring, doing one-off shows and festivals once in a while throughout the last ten years, this tour may well be one of the most comprehensive in years. The band aims to promote music from the new album, “Reverie”, while also playing songs from the previous albums that are loved by the audience. In each of the concerts, The Fray performs an enigmatic show focused on the lyrics and melodies of the songs supported by simple yet powerful lighting that emphasizes the emotions.

The tour is set to commence on the 16th of January in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and other large cities such as Chicago, Nashville, Atlanta, and Philadelphia. It will also strike even more personal venues such as concert halls and theaters in those cities that are not on the multi-platinum rock acts’ tour route map, thus delivering The Fray’s music to fans all across North America.

The current schedule is planned to end in San Francisco on May 13, 2019, but more performances might be scheduled for the tour if the interest in shows during spring is still strong. There are also whispers of a European leg being planned for the later part of the year 2023.

Considering Isaac Slade’s deep soulful voice and his ability to write songs that are full of passion and romantic desire, The Fray has fans that cut across all ages and genres. The heartrending songs that they create are also commonly used to accompany touching moments in movies and television series, thus venturing into other areas of society. As such, when The Fray declares such a large-scale tour as this one, followers cutting across various facets of life are usually quick to flock in for the shared revelry of the evangelical, emotionally charged musical concert the band offers.

What concertgoers can expect this tour is the band’s list of hits performed with passion and energy within a 2-hour set The Fray has prepared, but there will be a few twists. Fan favorites like “How to Save a Life” and “You Found Me” are expected, but the hardcore fans attending the shows have their fingers crossed for some of the deeper album tracks and some surprise covers like in previous tours. There may also be some other collaborations with other artists that have not been released yet.

It doesn’t matter what the setlists are at the end of the day, The Fray concerts provide a platform for happy singing by the audience and the group to interact and share happy moments with their music, backed up by the power of the piano and guitar. The shows tend to assume the atmosphere of a revivalist meeting, especially when Isaac Slade begins singing the lyrics to ‘How to Save a Life’ accompanied by the solemn illumination of the venue.

The Fray is at its best when performing live, the essence of songs that deal with themes like the search for meaning, religion, love, and grief is best felt during the concert. Audience members who attend several shows in the course of the tour are guaranteed a new and shared experience each night as the band responds to the energy of the fans.

Although fan pre-sales start this week, the general public can get their tickets starting Friday, October 28th most of the new dates announced. Due to fans’ high expectations after several years of limited touring, The Fray camp has encouraged fans to buy tickets as early as possible to avoid being sold out. There will also be special VIP packages for sale in some markets that include Ti Merch, Premium viewing areas, and an opportunity to meet the band.

Following the inarguably phenomenal success of ‘How to Save a Life,’ the Fray experienced the usual pressures of a record label and sophomore jinx before arriving on their own as that reliable voice of emotional pop-rock. But now members are in their early 40s, and it appears that they have accepted the role of elder statesmen of the given genre, keeping loyal to the spirit of the popular 1990s hits sounded today but not refusing to develop.

Hence, The Fray’s 2023 tour seems ripe for meaningful, emotional shows appreciated by the fans who came of age with The Fray as the soundtrack of their teenage woes and achievements. Those who have been listening to The Fray for years, as well as those who have just recently discovered these timeless hits, will feel the impact of proper musical performance at the band’s upcoming gigs. This tour will reinforce the band’s elite skill of conveying human fragility into powerful hooks that embrace fans of all ages.
