Peter Frampton is an English-American rock musician, singer, songwriter, producer, and guitarist he is famous as the lead singer in Humble Pie and The Herd during the 1960s and 1970s and as a solo artist in the early 1980s. Frampton has had an active tour circuit career in concerts for over five decades.
Frampton initially joined The Herd in the late 1960s and initially rehearsed and performed with the group in small clubs and theaters around England. The Herd quickly became popular and was soon able to perform in a lot of places in the UK including big theatres. They were opening bands for groups of the caliber of The Who and Cream. However, The Herd split up the following year, 1968, after being a band for only two years.
Following The Herd, Frampton found himself forming another rock band known as Humble Pie jointly with Steve Marriott in the same year of 1969. Humble Pie saw Frampton tour rigorously across the UK, Europe, and then the US until the groups disintegrated in 1975. To begin with, both bands had very successful tours in England and other parts of Europe during the early years, thus, they were able to perform in such large arenas as basketball halls and festivals. After achieving success in the US in 1971, they performed in North America several times, as warm-up bands for such bands as Grand Funk Railroad, as well as performing on their own.
Frampton started his solo career in early 1972 although he was still associated with Humble Pie. After the Humble Pie split up, he was much more concerned with his band. His fourth studio album is Frampton Comes Alive! His debut album, From the Beginning, released in 1976, could be considered his first major album. More recent concerts have been centered on the first half of 1975 which is his high water mark, He has been performing Frampton Comes Alive in its entirety along with other popular songs.
In 2011, Frampton revealed that he would be doing the Frampton Comes Alive 35 Tour which will span until the year 2012. The tour started that February with US arena shows including full live performances of the album. That leg concluded in October with approximately 79 shows. The tour went on in 2013 with more US summer amphitheater shows and a fall arena tour across Europe.
In May 2014, Frampton began another massive world tour in support of the Grammy Award-winning album Thank You Mr. Churchill. The busy 2014-2015 tour involved over 80 dates in North America as well as several shows in the UK and Europe. It would prove to be his most sustained touring in the better part of three decades.
More European concerts were scheduled for summer 2015, which was the first time Frampton had played in Ukraine and the Czech Republic. Concerts in Brazil, Argentina, and Chile: He performed his first live show in South America since 1991 during his summer 2016 tour. During the summer of 2017, he was working on North American sheds and a festival series.
Peter Frampton’s most recent concerts include the ones from Peter Frampton Finale – The Farewell Tour. He first spoke about the tour in February 2019 which he intended to be his last tour as a solo artist because of the muscle inflammatory disease inclusion body myositis. It was due to be released in the summer of 2019 but it was moved to the summer of 2020 due to his involvement in an accident.
The tour began in earnest in June 2022, starting in Florida. Spanning 52 dates across the country through October, the tour includes appearances from special guests, including Don Felder, Rick Springfield, and Julian Lennon, as well as acoustic storytelling segments. Due to his medical condition that has limited him from playing his guitar as it used to be, Frampton has credited the trip as a victory lap to meet his fans. The shows have been hailed as loving and moving tributes to his career and many have given the reviews to reflect the affection that was shown towards him.
