This band is one of the essential rock bands of the 1999s and the first decade of the 2000s with successful singles such as Matchbox Push, Unreal Me3AM, and Bent Matchbox Twenty has not recorded any new album since North in 2012 but the band is still touring The following is an overview of the bands touring schedule shortly for those who are dedicated Matchbox Twenty fans and who are eagerly waiting to
The members of Matchbox Twenty disbanded in 2002, each working on individual projects During 2010, they reconvened to record the album and toured vigorously to promote the album including Like Push and 3 AM The 2010 tour was a success for the band as they were able to prove that they still had fans despite their absence in nearly a decade They have continued touring into the last decade.
The band went on to perform a large North American tour in 2012 following the release of the album North This was the first time that the band was to perform new material in nearly 10 years across the United States and Canada In July 2017 Matchbox Twenty announced another North America tour in support of the 15th anniversary of the album More Than You Think You Are This tour was a 42 date tour which commenced in July and ended.
Between the major road runs lead singer Rob Thomas also concurrently established a successful solo career to fill his calendar with dozens of live shows at casinos and festivals with his solo band The Rest of Matchbox Twenty; Kristian Bush Paul Doucette Kyle Cook and Brian Yale occasionally performed alongside him during these events in short mini-reunion sets embedded in his headlining shows.
Matchbox Twenty was very active in 2019, performing in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand They played in several festivals such as Denmark’s Tinderbox and Australia’s Stone Music Festival among others They also had headlining shows This recent performance took them to six countries in the two continents and was their most extensive world tour in over a decade.
Now after several years of break, Matchbox Twenty has just recently embarked on another big reunion tour solely for the North American region The tour commenced last July 2022 and so far consists of well over forty dates planned until mid of September Some of the major venues of the band on their tour includes Clarkston Michigan Noblesville Indiana Cincinnati Ohio and Camden New Jersey Among others there are many more lined up till the last date of this tour which is currently scheduled.
Critics and fans of Matchbox Twenty have received the new string of concerts very warmly so far Recently a show was reviewed in Glide Magazine where the publication noted the band's contagious energy and their great collection of songs that audiences continue to love As the lead singer of the group Rob Thomas said the band is very happy to be performing with the fans again in their first tour since the Covid 19 pandemic disrupted the music business.
The future remains uncertain as to whether or not Matchbox Twenty will return to the recording studio to begin working on a much-delayed follow-up to North However, the band certainly has not lost its appeal when it comes to live performances With a seemingly bustling tour calendar and a strong connection with their fans one can only assume that the band has no plans of taking a break anytime soon.
For Matchbox Twenty fans, there are still around two dozen dates left for the current North American trek to be held in the late summer and fall of 2022 As such, fans still have many opportunities to go and see the band performing live this year After that, fans would have to wait and see when Rob Thomas, Kyle Cook, Brian Yale, Paul Doucette, and Kristian Bush will come back again with another round of their run.
For those who are still waiting for the bands to repeat the Matchbox Twenty experience in live performances, one should keep an eye on any newly added legs shows, or occasional festival performances in 2023 and the further years As far as the bands’ activity in the last ten years looks rather promising and shows no signs of stopping, so the bands’ extensive discography and a great fan base can likely bring them back on the road very soon.
