Phil Collins Tickets, the legendary musician, started touring again in 2017 when he began his Not Dead Yet Tour. The tour was significant for Collins since the former Genesis vocalist stated that he was quitting music in 2011.
He began hating performing and was even glad to leave school and get a job that would free him from performing. He stated that after his children started listening to some of his older songs and wanted to watch him perform live, he got back into music. This encouragement from his kids made the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer start touring again.
Tour: Not dead yet
Starting in Liverpool, England, on June 2, 2017, the Not Dead Yet Tour was Staged throughout many European cities in the summer of 2017, including Berlin, Paris, and the renowned Hyde Park in London. As a solo performer, Collins performed several of his big songs—including Sussudio, Against All Odds, In the Air Tonight—as well as some of Genesis's most famous songs, including Invisible Touch and Follow You, Follow Me.
Comprising 36 stops, the Not Dead Yet Tour ran in North America beginning in October 2017. Collins kept performing across the United States and Canada as well as at well-known locations like Los Angeles' Forum and Madison Square Garden in New York. After they believed they would never have another opportunity to see Collins play live as they did in 2010, the excited fans who came to attend every performance on the tour were glad to see him on stage once again.
The tour concluded with a final show on October 28, 2019, in Edmonton, Canada. Collins entertained around a million people across five continents over half a year. The ticket sales overall amounted to $56 million or more. Not Dead Yet Tour revealed that this English singer-songwriter has a highly devoted following worldwide, even when she was away from the public battling her major medical issues.
One of the reasons that influenced Collins to make his decision to retire in 2011 was the health challenges that he had been experiencing in the past decade. He had surgery in 2009 to address the problem of dislocated disc in the neck area. Collins also suffered nerve damage to the spinal cord, which later impaired his skills in playing drums.
Collins was later also diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Sensory neuropathy, which is a complication of diabetes, made it almost impossible for Collins to play instruments because of the pain in his hands. He formally retired from music in 2011 when he said he was no longer capable of touring and performing on stage.
Five years later, Collins was prepared to tour the globe, singing greatest hits, after he stepped down for five years to take proper care of his health. New treatments made it possible for Collins to control his diabetes and nerve pains in a way that enabled him to perform again, much to the excitement of his fans.
Since Collins was happy doing the Not Dead Yet Tour, many of the fans are now waiting for him to go on tour again. But, till now, Collins has not given any official notification regarding the new tour.
Of course, it may be that the lockdowns last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic have interfered with any touring plans that Collins might have wanted to have shortly. Having ongoing health issues also makes Collins more vulnerable to contracting a severe coronavirus, which can reasonably contribute to his decision to avoid performing concerts again until the pandemic is over.
As COVID threats drop, and if Collins continues to recover from his diabetes and nerve damage, he might try again for another grand world tour. Collins has made a good turn to disappoint before changing his mind, only to show that people should never sit and say no more to him when it comes to entertaining crowds with his amazing singing voice and skills.
But at 70 years of age and still struggling with some health problems, one cannot assume that Phil Collins will tour again. What is more, Collins himself stated that the Not Dead Yet Tour would be his final one. But even though he had previously said his 2010 tour would probably be his last at that time, the same is the case with Robbie Williams, who had also mentioned in an interview in the early part of 2008 that this tour might be his last large-scale tour. Thus, fans worried that they will never see Collins deliver In the Air Tonight or Against All Odds on stage again need not despair completely.
It is far from the first time that retired rock stars have felt the urge to unretire and go on the road again. As long as Collins has not finally come out to announce that his touring days are over for good, his diehard fans across the globe can keep on holding on to the hope that the legendary English singer and songwriter still has it in him for one more world tour. Whether they will surely thrill audiences again someday remains distinctly possible, even if it is far from a sure thing waiting to be announced any day now.
