Heart is a rock band that originated in Seattle, Washington in 1973 and was originally formed by two sisters Ann Wilson and Nancy Wilson. Formed in 1970 Heart had success with “Barracuda,” “Crazy On You,” “Magic Man,” and “These Dreams,” and originated from Seattle, WA selling over 35 million records globally and inspiring many artists that mix rock, folk, and pop. In addition, while they did not tour from 2016 to 2019 due to the band members focusing on individual projects, Heart was able to return to the concert stage in 2023 to their fans’ joy.
The Wilson sisters initially hinted at a Heart comeback tour in February 2022, when they came together to perform The Real Thing during a concert in tribute to Alice in Chains. The performance enthralled fans and gave fuel to the speculations about the complete reunion and a tour. By the end of summer, a tour was confirmed and everyone who was a fan of classic rock would be very excited to hear the news.
The Love Alive tour, which was named after Heart’s 1985 album, started on June 16th, 2023 in Ridgefield, Washington. The first few concert stops are in the Pacific Northwest region including Seattle before moving south down the coast with performances in major cities such as Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego. The heart will perform at a combination of small arenas and amphitheaters throughout the summer leg until the end of July.
Following the conclusion of the first North American run at the end of July, Heart will travel to Europe for their first shows in the region in three years. Starting on the 12 of October at SSE Arena in London, Heart is scheduled to perform across 23 shows in 19 cities across Western Europe major cities such as Manchester, Glasgow, Berlin, Munich, and Paris among others cities before the last show of the Euro leg on 5th of November in Amsterdam.
Back home, Heart is to continue with the North American tour in Tampa on November 15th playing the southeast U. S. before moving up the east coast. Some of the top destinations in this part are Atlanta, Nashville, New York City, Newark, Boston, Montreal, and Toronto, and then proceed to the Midwest where the band will perform in Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago, and Saint Paul up to mid-December.
More legs of the tour through to 2024 are still to be revealed in the future. Since Heart is one of the most popular bands and they perform on tours throughout their many years of being in the industry, they will most probably be performing tours during a major part if not the whole year. Particularly, the Mountain region, Southwest, Texas, and the Pacific Northwest seem to have been targeted by Heart's next tour legs going by the band's history of routing. These legs would potentially be in operation from February through the summer of 2024.
When the first album was released in 1976, 2023 will be the 45th anniversary of Heart’s recording career and this adds more incentive for the duo to go out on a larger tour. After taking time off for up to three years, Ann and Nancy Wilson seem to be coming back fully formed ready to rock, considering this tour as a triumph and honoring their musical journey with generations of fans.
As a band that has released songs ranging from soft folk-country ballads to full-blown and boisterous rock tunes, fans have plenty of reasons to be excited as they can anticipate a great mix of songs from different periods of Heart. Some songs which are almost guaranteed to be played at every show are “Barracuda”, “Crazy On You,” "Magic Man,” “Alone”, “What About Love” and a few more. Much like most bands that have spent considerable time on the touring circuit, Heart often switches out different songs night by night, so those fans who attend multiple shows can expect a diverse selection of album tracks and lesser-known tracks each evening.
Heart’s ability to perform incredibly well live and their musicianship has been well noted and their return to the concert has been scheduled on the “Love Alive” tour and will definitely be among the most looked forward to in the 2023 rock concert.
