The atmospheric post-rock of Iceland’s Sigur Rós will be bringing their latest album to North American audiences this spring with a full tour of the US and Canada. This means that people are more than willing to attend these concerts but the tickets for these events have not been released yet but will be soon in the coming weeks.
Sigur Rós came to prominence in 1999 with their debut full-length album ‘Ágætis byrjun’, which enchanted listeners with its ethereal melodies sung in an invented language called Hopelandic. They have recorded seven studio albums throughout the last twenty years and are now firmly established as one of the most creative and evocative groups in indie rock. Despite they took a break in 2013 and coming back to active status in 2020 with a new single Odin’s Raven Magic, it seems that Sigur Rós are planning on releasing more music as well as going back on tour.
Currently, Sigur Rós have revealed their first North American dates in five years, taking place in April and May of 2023; within just seven days, the band will play at Radio City Music Hall in the heart of New York City, the famed Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, the majestic Red Rocks Amphitheatre just outside of Denver, and other iconic locations. The band has been regular performers at music festivals too in the past and therefore there are expectations that they will be performing at some of the summer festivals, including Coachella and the Bonnaroo festival.
Sigur Rós has built a dedicated audience that is willing to pay to see the live performances that evoke their ethereal music. While they remain active musicians in their homeland of Iceland, still performing in small clubs and theaters, their rock and roll spectacles are massive, epic in conception, and designed for giant open-air festivals and stadiums. Their next headline tour would appear to be destined for some of North America’s most iconic rooms, ideal environments for the group’s hurricane build and contemplative hush.
Typically, most of Sigur Rós’ concert schedules are released between two and four weeks before the actual event. Since the official start of the tour is on April 13 in Pittsburgh, PA, fans are likely to be able to purchase tickets in mid or late March. The presales will start first, where there will be different pre-sales for fan club members, those who bought VIP packages, Spotify subscribers, and others. As mentioned earlier, various presales require unique codes to unlock them in advance. The Live Nation and venue presales generally begin a few days before the public on-sale date.
The remaining tickets will be available to the general public once the market on-sale starts. However, the most effective way to keep abreast of all ticket-related information is to regularly read the band’s email newsletter as well as keep up with their social media accounts. The earlier one can get a code to join the presale, the better the opportunity to get the best seats, like the front orchestra, at an affordable price.
As the band is finally coming back to the stage and the number of North American performances is quite small, these Sigur Rós concerts in spring will attract a lot of fans. Some shows have been known to be sold out from the time they went on sale because fans bought all the tickets. Therefore, when the time is right to buy these tickets, be ready at the on-sale time, together with your presale code, to compete for the tickets and secure them before anyone else gets a chance!
Here is the current schedule of Sigur Rós’ North American tour dates in 2023, from April through May, before they probably go back to mainland Europe to play festivals during the summer.

Prepare beforehand for the on-sale to be sure you have a ticket for a Sigur Rós performance in your area. Make a calendar note, look for presale codes from any place, and persuade your ticket-buying staff to follow through. The most sought-after event in each venue the band visits will undoubtedly be these very sensual and exciting performances featuring the icons of ambient rock. Though the band's popularity only gets stronger and they travel more and more internationally, events of Sigur Rós in their own country seem to be all the more unique. So, whether you are a devoted supporter or merely following the trend, the moment those tickets go on sale, you should grab them before they disappear!
