Bob Seger is an American rock singer and songwriter who initially began his rise to stardom in the 1970s with songs such as “Night Moves”, “Turn the Page”, and “Old Time Rock and Roll”. Seger was phenomenally successful commercially through most of the seventies and into the early eighties; he accumulated numerous platinum albums, and repeatedly filled arenas across the country. While Seger stopped touring in 2018 at 73 with his last concerts in Detroit, people still cannot help but speculate and discuss whether there will be more Bob Seger concerts.
The Bob Seger concert tour has not been planned for the year 2023 or any other year in the future. Seger said goodbye to touring in 2017-2018 through the Runaway Train tour that lasted more than a year and covered the North American region one last time. When the tour ended in September 2018 following a six-night run in Detroit, Seger felt that he had gotten all his messages musically. The rough pace of touring would eventually take its toll on the rock icon and he felt that he needed to spend more time with his family.
However, Seger ensured that he did not use the ‘R-word’ (retirement) while stating that there would be no more tours. He likes to claim that he is done with touring, and while there is a small chance of him playing a few shows here and there or doing a stint in a given location, there is always this possibility. For now, however, those looking to get Bob Seger concert tickets will have to wait as the singer takes his time off and gets some much-needed break after a string of hits on the charts. Beginning with his first national tour in support of the Live Bullet record in 1976 through 2017’s Runaway Train Tour, Seger established himself as one of the most memorable rock performers of all time.
Could Bob Seger un-retire and take to the stages again for some concerts in the future? Of course, it is still quite an exotic option even though it cannot be completely dismissed. Such health complications like spinal surgery made Seger postpone his last tour several times. Festivals might be able to draw him – Seger said he was invited to play Glastonbury in 2019 along with The Cure and The Killers but declined because he did not want to travel abroad.

Starting with a 1972 performance with his early backing band Gratitude at Detroit’s dilapidated Eastown Theatre included in Stranger in Town Deluxe up to his Face the Promise tour in the mid-90s and his iconic 1976 shows across America, fans have enough charged-up performances to watch until Seger decides to step out for more occasional shows. Live performances like ’80s concerts at the L. A. Forum and a raucous 1990 homecoming concert at the Pontiac Silverdome demonstrate why for most of the subsequent years Seger concerts became the ticket to have.
Of course, much of Bob Seger’s timeless passion is derived from how plainspoken and Midwestern his songwriting is. Songs such as “Turn the Page”, “Beautiful Loser”, and “Still the Same” are timeless, not only are they relatable to all ages and different backgrounds but also they were inspired by the everyman, the blue-collar worker. In his final concerts in 2017 and 2018, crowds of tens of thousands witnessed their idol’s finale; they knew it may well be their last opportunity ever to directly absorb that man’s unvarnished, visceral power. Many more were left out though one can crave for one more Bob Seger concert if all the right stars are aligned.
As long as no clear word appears that a special gig or short run is forthcoming, fans remain hopeful while reminiscing. Disappointment is always expected each time a preferred rock icon calls it quits for good. Yet another tour cycle similar to the previous marathon tours across the country seems improbable without a drastic change of mindset. However, a limited number of special shows in certain venues might tempt the Detroit legend to return for a temporary grand finale. Loyal fans waiting for the rebirth of Bob Seger tour tickets may be required to learn tolerance and appreciation of his strong need now to slow down. But their loyalty and passion are most unlikely to wane or fade if such a day should come in the future.
