Birdy is a singer-songwriter and musician from England who found fame in late 2011 after covering the Bon Iver song “Skinny Love” at the age of 14 years In November 2011 Birdy released her self-titled debut studio album, Birdy, to critical acclaim, charting at number 1 in Australia and number 13 in the UK. Birdy is now only 21 and she has recorded three studio albums more, as well as several EPs, and has traveled all around the World.
Birdy fans have been excitedly anticipating the news on when the singer will begin her next concert tour. Her last full-scale tour was in the Beautiful Lies era, which was in 2016. Since then, she has undertaken a few festivals and special shows in Europe. Birdy has however released her most recent album called Singing Me Home in August 2018 and many fans expected a full-scale world tour from the artist. Unfortunately, this means that as much as we are yet to look forward to the tour we have all been waiting for.
Despite not having officially promoted a tour, Birdy has released a set of a few intimate concerts in the UK this November. Touted as An Acoustic Evening with Birdy, this brief tour will encompass very small venues in Manchester, Birmingham, London, and Edinburgh. Tickets for the Manchester date can be purchased prior to the sale from July 31st with the general entry tickets being available from August 2nd. The rest of the tour dates and ticket sale dates are yet to be announced.
The four shows in the UK are anticipated to see Birdy sing ballads or songs in the simplest of arrangements and with a special focus on her entire discography. Lovers of Birdy’s music can look forward to listening to the new renditions of previous famous songs including People Help the People and Wings as well as songs in her latest album. These concerts are going to be rather intimate and not backed up by a full band as it is usually the case so it will be great to see and listen to Birdy’s lovely voice.
Although no other country's audience can enjoy Birdy Live in 2018, there are several grounds to assume that a global tour will take place in 2019 or 2020. Birdy has suggested in a couple of recent interviews such as the recent appearance on George Ezra and Friends show that a bigger tour might be shortly. She said that she was looking forward to dancing to the new songs for her fans across the globe. Birdy also said that she could imagine herself performing in small theaters and music halls which is very close to her November plans.
Also, Birdy issued a new single at the beginning of 2014, collaborating with successful Dutch DJ and producer Tiësto on the dance tune Live It Up. The summer anthem song and music video have helped Birdy to gain a brand new audience. It would only be reasonable for her to go on a massive tour soon to capitalize and build on the newfound pop star status she is enjoying now. They are likely to be performing at festivals all over Europe the following summer as well.
Currently, Birdy has not released the details of her concert tour, which means that she has not embarked on a concert tour. However, given her recent statements about her desire to perform new songs to the audience, along with her rising popularity resulting from the cooperation with Tiësto, the announcement of a tour seems quite probable. Although she is currently busy with the creation of a tab book for her new album and performing four intimate gigs across the UK in November, followers globally are still waiting for the announcements of her 2019 tours.
It appears that the most probable case is that WTM will make a world tour announcement during the early part of next year. This would ideally begin in the UK and Europe during the Spring of 2019 then move on to the States for the Summer shows. Shed likely targets key cities such as London, Manchester, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Los Angeles, and New York City. If fans are really lucky perhaps she will return down under to Australia where she still has a lot of fans.
Regardless of the shape or form of Birdy's next world tour is going to take, one thing is for sure, her fans will be ready. Her concerts are always packed from Warsaw, through Toronto, down to Manila. It simply means each new album brings more fans into the fold ready to see her in concert. Where Birdy has let us have a glimpse of new music and more personal performances this November, it goes without a doubt that audiences will be eager to catch her perform again soon.
