  • Bill Gaither is an American singer-songwriter and lyricist who has been credited for writing most of the current Christian and gospel hymns. In addition to his wife Gloria, he has been singing with Bill Gaither Trio / Gaither Vocal Band for more than 40 years. Bill Gaither is still performing at 81 years old and still getting great responses from the fans to his music.

Gaither has lined up his concert tour for 2022 which is going to be one of the biggest tours of the year. Currently, he has more than 30 shows lined up and they will see him performing in major parts of the continental USA. The tour starts in February with three performances in Florida before moving on to the Midwestern states. He will be entertaining his fans in big cities like Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, and Cincinnati together with some small towns like Muncie in Indiana and Hershey in Pennsylvania.

The climax of the February and March part of the tour is his long-awaited concert at Carnegie Hall in New York City in early March. Gaither has performed at Carnegie Hall before but it has been over five years since performing on that holy ground. I am sure that fans will flock to that show whenever it is located in the East Coast region.

Following the Northeast, Gaither then goes South for almost the entire month of April. He’ll perform in Houston, Texas, Little Rock, Arkansas, and Tuscaloosa, Alabama among several other southern cities. It ends at the end of April with 10 performances in total for this tour.

Bill then does not tour at all for the entire month of May, he resumes touring at the beginning of June. His 2022 concert tour continues with the summer leg that will take him to the western part of the United States including Colorado, Arizona, California, and Washington. The schedule is slightly slower with around 8 shows in the whole of the month.

Based on the schedule, Gaither does not have any concerts planned for the month of July or August. Still, given his love for performing, it would not be astonishing to see a couple more shows getting scheduled later this summer. Gaither then takes a break from traveling for a couple of months before going back on the road in September.

The fall leg of the tour takes him back mostly to the Midwest, the South, and the Southeast, which is more his comfort zone. Some of the other highlights during September and October include concerts in Kentucky, Tennessee, Louisiana, Kansas, and Wyoming. He has over a dozen more shows confirmed to him up to the holiday season.

Bill Gaither’s 2022 concerts will come to a close in early December after the final three shows in Missouri, Iowa, and Indiana. Thus, in total, his tour comprises 30-35 concerts in more than 25 states. It is a grueling calendar of shows for any artist, let alone an octogenarian as is the case with Gaither.

However, he has not lost his zeal or joy in Christian music, which he discovered in his youth, as he sees it as a mission in his life to write songs that inspire people and give them hope and comfort, as well as be able to sing them with enthusiasm in front of the audience. Bill Gaither is almost in his mid-80’s and yet, he still loves the idea of getting on stage and singing live.

Of course, as with any concert tour, dates or locations could potentially shift around or get postponed depending on unforeseen circumstances. People interested in watching one of Gaither’s shows should regularly visit his website for the latest updates on the tour.

Bill Gaither and his wife Gloria Gaither are still happily on the road, as they have been throughout their long and happy marriage and partnership. People of all ages attend Gaither concerts to listen to them sing their popular old tunes and the new tunes in their new albums.

The Gaithers also always have lots of special guest artists at their concerts as well. Audiences never know who could come to sing or accompany Bill. It could be his son Benjy playing guitar or a backup vocalist like Ladye Love Smith. Other fellow Christian artists, with whom he has performed, include Mark Lowry, Reggie Smith, Wes Hampton, and Gene McDonald. A Gaither Vocal Band reunion is also not a thing that we can rule out as an option.

So if you are a fan of gospel music and good songs, look at the tour calendar to see if Bill Gaither is going to perform somewhere near where you live this year. This is going to be an inspiring, nostalgic, warm fellowship and a praising evening.
