  • After 7 Concert Tour – Are They On The Road Again?

Soul/R&B vocal group After 7 – famous for “Can’t Stop” and “Ready Or Not” during the 90s – has been steadily building a fan base for the past three decades. Still, the group has not embarked on concert tours in the last few years, and fans have often asked themselves whether or not After 7 would be willing to go on tour again.

After 7 is an American R&B vocal group with romantic tunes which was founded in 1987 by Melvin Edmonds, Kevon Edmonds, and Keith Mitchell. Their first album was recorded in 1989, the second one was in 1992 and the third one was in 1995 and name the first was John Anderson, Takin’ My Time, and Reflections respectively. 7 continued to make music until they disbanded in 1997 but the band members have, from time to time, come together for shows and records.

Their last one was in 2018 for some of the festivals and, most importantly, for their first number in over 15 years, namely, ‘I Want You. ’ This gave hope to those who are fans of the After 7 that perhaps the band is planning a more extensive tour this time. Yet, up to the present time, no official After 7 tour has been launched.

People have attributed the inactivity of After 7 in recent decades to the tight schedules of the various artists. Kevon Edmonds is a music producer, Melvin Edmonds sings and is also a pastor, and Keith Mitchell has done acting and voice acting. It could just be coordinating their availability for a lengthy multi-city tour that is a concern.

Nevertheless, the passion of the audience for After 7 songs has not waned, and every concert attracts fans of soul music regardless of age. Their rich three-part harmonies with classic hits such as “Can’t Stop,” “Ready or Not,” and “Nights Like This” do not sound obsolete, and there are groups of fans who would be thrilled to see the Boys II Men back on the road.

Speculation for a tour appears every two years or so but is quickly quelled without any actual tour occurring. Fans were given an opportunity to see After 7 again later in mid-2021 when they participated in the Chicago Music Festival and suggested that the group could grace the stage again in other shows. But up to this date, no official statement has been made.

At this point, followers look forward to an After 7 live appearance as the sweetest bonus. And hopes remain that better projections for 2023 may allow for additional touring plans for After 7. But this is in the hands of the singers themselves and what they are capable of doing in the future schedules.

As much as this group has so many wonderful songs, and is blessed with great singers, most fans would wish to see After 7 perform live in concert as soon as possible. Oh yes, they will surely flock in large numbers once that long-overdue tour materializes. It is beyond doubt that an After 7 reunion tour with music selected over 30 years will generate significant attention across the United States and probably worldwide.

Will 2023 be the year that After 7 will return to stages for a tour that is not an illusion? Nothing is confirmed, but the demand from audiences all over the world is still present. All that they can do is wait for an announcement and then be ready to pounce as soon as 7 concert tickets are released. And when that day comes the seats are bound to sell like hot cakes.

And even though another After 7 tour is only a hypothesis at the moment, all audiences from near and far will greet the news with enthusiasm. Here is hoping that promoters can arrange some more dates shortly exploiting this long-standing musical group. Until that news arrives, avid fans have decades of After 7 studio albums and several new tracks – and cherished moments of catching the group live in action. And the singers probably know how much the audience enjoys listening to their harmonizing, which could have motivated them to come back on the road earlier.
