For their first tour in 6 years, Bruce Springsteen and E Street Band will be accompanied by their usual team of musicians, many of them long-time band members. This vocal group has been performing with Springsteen for over four decades and has been performing in the lengthy, more than three-hour shows. On Guitar: Steven Van Zandt is a guitarist and vocalist whose presence in Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band brought him notoriety.
Since 1975, Steven Van Zandt—stage name Little Steven—has been a member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band. Lofgren joined the Boss in 1984 and is the longest durable E Streeter after Springsteen, having experimented with Neil Young and his own band Grin. Lofgren's light guitar riffs and solos create a wonderful counterpoint for Springsteen's passionate on-stage performance. Dubbed for his remarkable ability to switch between acoustic and electronic guitars during performances, Apart from guitar, Nils is well-known for sometimes employing accordion and keyboard in his songs.
On Piano & Organ: Roy Bittan is another keyboardist who has been seen with the E Street band, but his contributions to the sound of the band have been significantly more than merely providing keyboards.
Professor" Roy Bittan gives the E Street band a classically trained, cerebral touch to its keyboard player. Born in Oak Knoll Naval Hospital, New Jersey, Bittan was learning jazz and blues piano as a young man; he began performing with Bruce Springsteen's group in 1972 and formally joined the E Street Band in 1974. He has many piano solo parts in many Bruce Springsteen popular songs for concerts, which brings emotion to the song. Apart from recording and touring with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Bittan has also been involved in other works, such as the production of other albums, including those from David Bowie, Tracy Chapman, and Ian Hunter.
On Bass: Garry Tallent
Hired as the very first musician for Bruce Springsteen's touring ensemble in the early 1970s, Garry Tallent remains the musician with the longest E Street Band tenure under Springsteen. Originally an accomplished tuba and upright bassist from jazz groups on the Jersey Shore and far beyond, Tallent transferred to electric bass guitar at Springsteen's insistence and then solidified with Max Weinberg's drums as the foundation of the E Street Band's sound. He also keeps himself occupied outside of E Street, working as a producer and an additional musician for several artists in Nashville.
On Drums: Max Weinberg
Following the tryouts, Max Weinberg, who was Conan O'Brien's bandleader, secured the E Street drummer role after being selected by Bruce himself in 1974. Weinberg has been the foundation for those long, intense Springsteen shows you share a triangle with, which last anywhere from 3 to 4 hours for the past 49 years. When the New Jersey-born and raised man first joined E Street, he had jazz and big band experience under his belt, having performed with Sinatra and Elvis.
On Saxophone: Jake Clemons
The son of a brass player in the SNL's band who replaced the legendary E Street Band's saxophonist Clarence Clemons, who died in 2011, Jake Clemons is now following his uncle's footsteps. His first time on stage with Bruce Springsteen was in 2012 and he became a full-fledged member of E Street Band in 2017. Like his Big Man uncle Mick Avery, Jake Clemons takes a turn at a sax for some furious riffs that send such iconic songs as Born to Run and Jungleland into the seventh heaven. Every night I get to witness him perform some numbers on the very saxophone that Clarence performed in front of audiences for years.
On Percussion & Vocals: Soozie Tyrell This talented singer also performs in many Broadway shows and musicals and she is also involved in various acting projects.
A talented singer-songwriter, Soozie Tyrell began her association with Bruce Springsteen as a violinist and occasional vocalist in 2002 but formally became a member of the E Street Band in 2007, where she also plays guitar, keyboards, percussion, and provides backing vocals. She layers high-pitched vocals and violin, offering Souther-infused twangs to Bruce Springsteen's boisterous choruses. Tyrell sings her country rock and folk-pop songs with her band the rest of the time when she is not on the road with Springsteen.
On Trumpet: Curt Ramm
Among these musicians, there is Curt Ramm, who has often collaborated with Bruce Springsteen, though he is not one of the core E Street Band members but will act as a trumpet player in the 2023 tour. They first toured together on the 1992/1993 world tour to promote Human Touch & Lucky Town. He has also performed as a trumpet player on studio albums for various artists, some of whom include Elton John and Leonard Cohen, among others. In turn, his trumpet solos will give a soulful edge to E Street classics such as Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out.

Bruce Springsteen, while he surely relies on his storied E Street Band to bring his most complex musical ideas to life on stage show after show, is still very much the bandleader. What can be said is that Springsteen's great songwriting, passionate singing, and guitar playing after 50 years, to say nothing of the incredibly tight band he has, appear to demand and get the best performances night after night.
